A married couple of Polish collectors are opening their own art gallery. "We have a mission."

In 2026, Wrocław will gain a unique cultural landmark – the private museum and art gallery of Ewa and Krzysztof Folt. The new space will be an open-air meeting place for art, business, and culture enthusiasts.

Wrocław will gain a new cultural gem. In 2026 , the private museum and art gallery of Ewa and Krzysztof Folta —collectors, art patrons, and founders of the Folta Foundation— will open its doors. The couple shared details of the project in an interview with Puls Biznesu .

- We have been lucky in life, so we have a mission to give something back to society - admit the Folts.

Who are Ewa and Krzysztof Folt - collectors, patrons, visionaries?

Krzysztof Folta is a well-known name in Polish business. In 1987, he founded TIM SA , which became the largest distributor of electrical materials in the country.

Under Krzysztof Folta's leadership, TIM has transformed from a network of electrical wholesalers into an innovative B2B e-commerce platform. In June 2024, Krzysztof Folta decided not to seek another term on the TIM SA Management Board and assumed the role of Chairman of the Supervisory Board .

Today, he focuses on educational and philanthropic activities. Together with his wife, Ewa, he runs the Folta Foundation .

" I've always been interested in art, and our collection only deepened that passion. I wanted to finally make it public, which was the starting point for establishing the foundation," explains Ewa Folta in Puls Biznesu.

From private collections to museums - the history of the Folt collection

The Folta couple's adventure with art began in the late 1990s, when Ewa Folta bought their first work of art, "Góra Zielona" by Józef Hałas.

"In 2000, we completed the house renovation, and the expanded space required a new arrangement. Art was the answer," explained Krzysztof Folta.

Today, the collection boasts over 400 works , including works by artists from Wrocław , the École de Paris , and avant-garde artists . The diversity also stems from the couple's personal preferences – Ewa is closer to the avant-garde and contemporary art, while Krzysztof appreciates the classics of the École de Paris . The result is a multi-layered collection , allowing for a variety of combinations and displays.

The Museum on Tęczowa Street - a new place on the cultural map of Wrocław

The new space is being built in an industrial building on Tęczowa Street , just a 10-minute walk from the Market Square. The surroundings are also not coincidental – the new headquarters of BWA Wrocław is planned nearby.

The opening is planned for June 2026. However, the space is not intended to resemble a traditional museum institution. The museum's creators want the gallery to become a meeting place for artists , businesspeople , and all those who seek cultural impetus for reflection and action.

- We want this space to be warm, open, far from the sterility of a museum, more of an art salon and meeting place than a classic gallery - says Ewa Folta.
